EUWID market report on aluminum packaging: Industry complains about sharp rise in costs
News General news
Towards the end of 2024, suppliers of aluminum cans and tubes told EUWID that they were largely satisfied with the almost completed financial year.

After a disappointing 2023 for them, beverage can manufacturers are expecting volume increases this time. Demand has cooled somewhat in the aerosol can and tube segments. Suppliers nevertheless expect to be able to increase their sales in 2024 as a whole or at least maintain them at the previous year's level.
At the time of research in mid-December, can and tube manufacturers were unanimously complaining about rising costs. The pressure to pass these on in full from January was high, but not always successful, they said. Among other things, more expensive premiums and increased reprocessing costs due to energy prices were cited. Higher slug prices, wage cost increases and the rise in the price of aluminum on the LME were also cited.
