Bitburger Brewery Group: Markus Spanier succeeds Stephan Fahrig

Markus Spanier (55), Head of Controlling/Investment Management at the Bitburger Brewery Group, will succeed Stephan Fahrig as Managing Director Finance, IT and Purchasing from January 1, 2023, who will leave the company for new tasks. In order to ensure a seamless transition within the management team, Markus Spanier will already be responsible for the commercial area as Managing Director from October 1 and thus lead the company together with Jan Niewodniczanski (Managing Director Technology and Environment and representative of the entrepreneurial family), Dr. Stefan Schmitz (Managing Director Human Resources and Legal) and Stephan Fahrig (Managing Director IT and Purchasing).

He was able to play a decisive role in driving forward digitization and played a key role in overcoming external crisis issues and their economic challenges, such as the Corona pandemic and the flood in the Ahr Valley. We wish him all the best for the future," explains Dr. Dieter Heuskel, Chairman of the Supervisory Boards of the Bitburger Group of Companies. "We are very pleased to welcome Mr. Spanier, an experienced, highly qualified professional with in-depth knowledge of the industry, to the management team," continues Heuskel.

Markus Spanier has already held various management positions at the Bitburger Group of Companies since 2005, most recently being responsible for the Controlling/Investment Management department at the Bitburger Brewery Group. Spanier, who is based in the region with his family, has also been Managing Director of the Bitburger Kontor Group since 2015.
