Coca-Cola invests 150 million euros in Germany

Coca-Cola Europacific Partners Deutschland (CCEP DE), Germany's largest beverage producer, will continue to invest at the same high level as in previous years in 2025: around 150 million euros will be invested in the regional sites, the bottle and crate pool and the renewal of the cooler park. The largest single sum is earmarked for the production site in Halle in eastern Germany.

“Our multi-million investments are our commitment to Germany as a business location,” explains John Galvin, CEO of CCEP DE. “We are not postponing projects. We are taking the money into our own hands now and thus also providing regional economic impetus.” Coca-Cola's investments in Germany are geared towards the long term. One production line, for example, will be in operation for several decades. “Our high investment volume is therefore also a vote of confidence in the new German government,” emphasizes John Galvin. “In order to be able to produce competitively in Germany in the future, we need significantly better framework conditions. The urgently needed structural changes must be tackled swiftly and decisively after the election.”

“It must become more attractive to invest in Germany again”
For the Coca-Cola CEO, there are three main points: “Firstly, bureaucracy and regulation must be limited to what is really necessary. In this way, investment projects can be implemented more quickly and bureaucratic costs can be reduced. Secondly: Germany must become more productive again. To achieve this, the burden on labor must be eased today, non-wage labor costs must be reduced and the future technologies of tomorrow must be promoted in a targeted manner. Thirdly, it must once again be easier and more attractive to invest in Germany. To achieve this, the tax incentives and depreciation options for companies must be improved.”

Coca-Cola with a consistently high level of investment in Germany
With the planned 150 million euros, CCEP DE intends to invest around 10% more this year than in 2024. The history of the German beverage manufacturer is also impressive: In the past five years, CCEP DE has invested over 600 million euros in Germany. This means that the highest investment volume in Europe went to the German business unit of Coca-Cola Europacific Partners. “In order for us to continue to attract large-scale investment to Germany in the future, the prospects for our production in the country must be right,” explains John Galvin. “It is up to the new German government to set the right course and strengthen Germany's industrial base again.”

80 million euros for regional production sites
The largest planned single investment of 45 million euros is going to eastern Germany. A new filling line for cans is to be installed at the production site in Halle an der Saale. The demand for Coca-Cola beverages in cans has recently increased steadily. From mid-2026, Coca-Cola will be able to significantly expand its can filling capacities in Germany - currently at the production sites in Dorsten and Karlsruhe - with the new line in Halle. In addition, one of the existing lines for bottling non-carbonated beverages at the site will be expanded.

Further million-euro investments are planned for the sites in Lüneburg (around 11 million euros) and Dorsten (around 8 million euros). In Lüneburg, the glass line installed last year is to be completed and a building for bottle sorting erected. In Dorsten, a production line for filling beverage concentrates for dispenser solutions in the food service industry will be installed, which has been relocated from the Cologne site. In addition, the conversions in the syrup room begun last year are to be completed.

Millions invested in returnable/bottle and crate pool and in the cooler park
At 42 million euros, a large proportion of the planned investments this year will once again go towards reusable bottles and crates. Reusable bottles play an important role in Coca-Cola's product range in Germany, and investments are correspondingly high: in 2019-23, the beverage manufacturer invested over 300 million euros in reusable bottling.

A further 18 million euros will be spent on expanding the cooler park. Coca-Cola also provides commercial customers with coolers. The fleet is to be expanded by 32,000 new appliances. Particular attention is being paid to the energy efficiency of the new appliances and the use of environmentally friendly refrigerants. CCEP DE has already been able to reduce its CO2 footprint in the area of refrigeration technology by over 68 percent since 2010.

Coca-Cola: an economic factor in Germany
Coca-Cola has been part of the German economy and society for almost 100 years. The company produces, employs and invests in Germany - and thus also contributes to economic output year after year. As an analysis from 2023 shows, the Coca-Cola system contributed 9.1 billion euros to Germany's gross domestic product. In addition, the Coca-Cola system purchased goods and services worth around 1.5 billion euros from German manufacturers and suppliers. Above all, these were the ingredients for the beverages, plant and machinery as well as transportation services. Finally, in addition to around 6,500 direct jobs, Coca-Cola also provides indirect employment with almost 150,000 jobs, including in retail, suppliers and service companies.
