The declared aim of the Flensburg brewery is to reduce all of its CO2 emissions, become more independent in terms of energy supply by producing its own electricity and heat and thus make a contribution to climate neutrality.

By 2045 at the latest at the latest, the Flensburg brewery aims to be climate-neutral. Alongside other investments, the new brewhouse is an essential step towards further optimising the brewery's energy supply.

The internal planning for the construction of a new brewhouse on the north-east side of the existing Flensburg brewery building in the immediate vicinity of Munketoft is being carried out in close cooperation with the architectural firm Holt & Nicolaisen from Flensburg and the relevant committees of the Flensburg city administration. The use of state-of-the-art and advanced technology will make the heating of the brewing vessels more efficient in future and less dependent on fossil fuels.

A central element of the new brewhouse will be a large hot water storage tank that can absorb excess energy from renewable sources and provide hot water for specific processes. The flexible integration of other heat sources, such as heat pump technology, will also be possible.

"We deliberately chose this location to show our commitment to the city of Flensburg," says Sylke Moerke, Managing Director Technology at Flensburger Brauerei. As a key production facility, the new brewhouse will be visually orientated towards the existing buildings. Tradition meets modernity: the yellow - partly listed - brick façade will be visually integrated, a generous glass façade will provide insights into the exciting and traditional world of beer brewing and the roof of the new building will be greened.

"We would like to thank the architects Holt & Nicolaisen, those responsible at the City of Flensburg and Flensburg's Lord Mayor Dr Fabian Geyer for their constructive cooperation. The licence application has been submitted. We look forward to the imminent realisation of this exciting and important project," says Sylke Moerke-
