“These awards once again reflect what Underberg stands for as a whole: a portfolio of strong own premium brands such as Asbach and attractive distribution brands,” emphasizes Tim Nentwig, Marketing Director of Diversa Spezialitäten GmbH, the sales subsidiary of the group of companies. “The two award-winning Asbach products exemplify our two-pronged philosophy: Asbach 8 Years stands for the highest level of classic craftsmanship and Asbach Coffee+Cream for our innovative expertise.”

The ISW tasting at the start of the year focused on the categories of brandy, fruit brandies and fruit spirits as well as liqueurs of all kinds. A total of 543 products were tasted and evaluated, 163 of which received a medal.

Asbach 8 years stands for “clear typicality”
Asbach 8 Years was once again delighted to receive a gold medal. The brandy of the year 2023 once again lived up to its claim to be the flagship of the traditional house from Rüdesheim. The jury praised “the clear typicity that symbolizes brandy from Germany”.

The Asbach Coffee+Cream presented in 2022 also impressed the ISW experts. “The well-integrated sweetness, a harmonious creaminess and mild, natural coffee notes” earned the barista liqueur a gold medal rating.

Hints of vanilla and nuts in the Rushkinoff Caramel
Rushkinoff Caramel, another liqueur distributed by Diversa in Germany, won gold. The jury's vote for the product from the Spanish family-run company Distribucions Túnel emphasized “the clear yet complex caramel notes with hints of vanilla and nuts”.

There was also a gold medal for “Coeur du Breuil Liqueur au Calvados Pays d'Auge”, a Calvados liqueur from Normandy. “The ripe apple notes, paired with a fine but very present cider and brandy aroma, above all the well-integrated barrel notes” were decisive for the excellent rating.
