After studying economics in Augsburg and Zurich, Josef Schmidt, who comes from Swabia, gained experience in a medium-sized brewery before completing his training as a master brewer at the Doemens Academy. Over the past 10 years, he has been in charge of various international projects in breweries and beverage companies at the plant manufacturer Krones-Steinecker.
