Kundmüller Brewery: Summer Ale becomes Session Ale of the Year
News General news
At the "Craft Beer Award May Tasting" of the Meininger publishing house, the Kundmüller brewery was again successful: the Weiherer Summer Ale wins a gold medal. And this means that it is not only one of the best summer beers of 2021, but was also ennobled with the title of "Session Ale of the Year".
"It fills us with pride that the competent jury of experts has so honored our creative approach and the flavorful result," comments brewmaster and owner Roland Kundmüller on the award. Weiherer Summer Ale is part of the special brew series in which the Weiherer brewing team likes to try things out away from the Franconian classics. As many as seven hop varieties and four different malts are used for the top-fermented beer specialty. "It is precisely this mixture, dosed with flair in the right proportions, that provides the fruity, hoppy character and summery, lean body," adds his brother, beer sommelier and owner, Oswald Kundmüller.
In addition to the Session Ale of the Year, the Kundmüller brewery also won two other medals in the May Tasting. Wheat beers, which of course cannot be missing from the Weiherer range, were also tasted. Weiherer Weizen Hell, a traditional classic, was awarded the gold medal for the second time in a row. Weiherer Hopfenweizen, cold-hopped fruity special brew received the silver medal.
There could not have been much better news for the reopening of the Weiher beer garden. The three winning beers can of course be enjoyed alongside the nearly 30 other classics, special brews, and organic and solar beers, along with Franconian snacks and homemade specialties. "We are now looking forward to what we hope will be a long beer garden season," concludes Oswald Kundmüller.
