Family business combines tradition, innovation and sustainability for beer enjoyment
With a market share of 50 per cent, the Dornbirn Mohrenbrauerei remains the leading beer brand in Vorarlberg. More than every third beer consumed in the state is a "Spezial" in the innovative 0.33-litre light glass bottle and the 0.5-litre bottle. In "Vorarlberg's Best Brand", the family business has just won the main prize, the "Most Indispensable Brand" award, first place in the awareness ranking and second place in the "Recommendation" category.
"Mohrenbräu is the beer of Vorarlberg - and should remain so. We are committed to this as an independent private brewery, employer and service partner. Together, we ensure maximum beer enjoyment and regional added value," says Managing Director Thomas Pachole. With a new management structure, millions invested in efficiency and an increase in staff to more than 170 employees, the family business is setting the course for the future. Vorarlberg's oldest brewery is also planning to invest in efficiency in 2024 and will start adapting the new logistics centre in Lustenau in autumn.
In the Vorarlberg target market, the Mohrenbrauerei was able to maintain its market share of 50 per cent in 2023. There were gains in the country's most popular beer. The "Spezial" in the innovative 0.33-litre light glass bottle and the 0.5-litre bottle was the clear number one in 2023 with a market share of 34.8% and an increase of 1.5 percentage points - followed by "Pfiff" as the second most popular beer.
Strong regional brand
"At Mohrenbräu, everything revolves around the enjoyment of beer. To this end, we preserve the best while breaking new ground. As a family business, we plan for the long term and maintain a close and trusting relationship with our partners," explains Pachole. People also appreciate the brewery's commitment and the strong regional brand. In the survey of "Vorarlberg's best brand" by Dr Auer's Institute for Management & Marketing, the company has just landed on the podium four times.
In addition to the main prize as "Vorarlberg's Best Brand", the company also came first in the categories "Most Indispensable Brand" and in the awareness ranking. The brewery came second in terms of recommendations to friends and acquaintances. The annual brand ranking is determined by a representative online survey with around 500 respondents. "The Mohrenbräu brand stands for 100% quality, 100% flavour and 100% family. This is how we want to redefine beer enjoyment in Vorarlberg every day. The awards are a nice confirmation of our path," says a delighted Pachole.
