Clean: OeTTINGER again awarded for voluntary environmental performance
News General news
Sustainability has traditionally been one of OeTTINGER's core values. That's why our brewery with headquarters in Oettingen has been participating in the Bavarian Environmental and Climate Pact for more than 15 years. This year we again received an award from the Bavarian Environmental and Consumer Protection for our voluntary environmental achievements.
Our brewery group fulfills several of the requirements that entitle it to participate: For example, all brewery sites are uniformly certified by independent auditors in accordance with the energy management system of the globally valid ISO 50001 standard and registered in the European Eco-Management and Audit Scheme (EMAS).
Continuous optimization of operating processes and ongoing investment in energy- and resource-saving technologies go hand in hand for us at OeTTINGER: For example, the combined heat and power plant at the Oettingen site allows us to benefit from increased energy efficiency by generating our own electricity. At the same time, we are able to reduce our CO2 emissions.
District Administrator Stefan Rößle thanked our brewery for achievements like these and for its commitment to environmental protection on behalf of the entire Donau-Ries district: "Companies that provide voluntary environmental protection services on their own responsibility by participating in the Environment and Climate Pact are more important than ever."
For us, environmental and climate protection means using all natural resources efficiently. With four brewery sites in Bavaria, Thuringia, North Rhine-Westphalia and Lower Saxony, we work regionally throughout Germany. A major plus for the environment, in addition to the constant full utilization of the brewing facilities and the use of modern technology in all areas, are the short transport routes - from the delivery of the raw materials to the delivery of the beers, beer mixes and soft drinks. Our returnable pool bottles also have an ecological advantage: depending on their condition, we refill them up to 50 times before finally sending them for recycling.
The fact that our brewery is committed to environmental and climate protection is also emphasized by Managing Director Pia Kollmar: "The careful use of natural resources is at the heart of everything we do. It is our declared goal to pass on our company, which has been family-run since 1731, to the tenth generation in a way that is fit for the future."
