Störtebeker again honoured at international competitions
News General news
The brewers from Stralsund can celebrate again at the end of the year: with a bronze medal at the European Beer Star and two awards at the Finest Beer Selection, Störtebeker proves that its brewing specialities can also hold their own on the international stage and are appreciated by renowned beer experts.
Störtebeker brewing specialities are once again among the best beers in the world. The creations from Stralsund have won two prestigious beer competitions:
Two brewing specialities, the fine bitter-chocolaty Nordik Porter and a wood barrel matured edition of the peaty-malty Scotch Ale, have been included in the Finest Beer Selection - the new sensory excellence test of the Doemens Academy and Meininger Verlag. Each beer is individually analysed and evaluated in terms of aroma by a panel of experts. Only the best beers of the year make it into the exclusive circle of the Finest Beer Selection. The Nordik Porter impressed the experts with its full-bodied malt body and intense coffee and chocolate flavours. They appreciated the strong smoky flavours and balanced sweetness of the Scotch ale.
There was a very special award for a real classic from Störtebeker Braumanufaktur: Schwarz-Bier won bronze at the European Beer Star, its 19th medal at an international beer competition. This makes Schwarz-Bier the most award-winning brewing speciality in the range. "We are very proud that Schwarz-Bier has been one of the most popular varieties for years, both among beer lovers from Germany and experts from all over the world," says a delighted Paul Gradl, master brewer at Störtebeker Braumanufaktur. Roasted and caramel malts give the deep black beer its roasted flavour and the aroma of coffee and dark chocolate. First brewed in 1998, the Schwarz-Bier celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2023.
