Störtebeker: Gold at the Craft Beer Award - Pacific Ale wins coveted medal
News General news
With its intense notes of mango, pineapple, and passion fruit, the new Störtebeker Pazifik-Ale not only delights beer lovers and fans from all over Germany. The experts at Meininger's International Craft Beer Award also agree and have now honored the specialty brew with a gold medal.
Three months after its market launch, Störtebeker Pacific Ale has become one of Germany's most popular IPAs and can now look forward to a very special award: at the Meiningers International Craft Beer Award, the tropical-fruity hop bomb was awarded gold in the "American IPA" category. "IPA is the supreme discipline of special beers; after all, it is considered the epitome of the entire craft beer movement," Elisa Raus, World Champion Beer Sommelier, tells us. "The competition in this category is very high. That's why we're all the more pleased about the award for our latest creation," says Raus.
At the Meininger's International Craft Beer Award, more than 140 beers in the Pale Ale and IPA tasting were closely scrutinized by sommeliers and beer experts and evaluated according to appearance, aroma and taste using a detailed evaluation sheet. A scale of points is used to award the coveted silver, gold and platinum medals. "A maximum of 25% of the beers submitted are awarded," says Elisa Raus. The beer sommelière was also part of the 22-member expert jury. "Of course, the jurors are used so that they can not evaluate their own beers," assures Raus.
Störtebeker Braumanufaktur has been taking part in the International Craft Beer Award since the very beginning and has since been able to win more than 30 of the coveted medals.
Pacific Ale - that's how it tastes:
Light barley malts provide a bright golden color and a lean, dry drink. Warm fermentation imparts the tangy carbonation. Generous gifts of the hop varieties Comet, Mosaic, Citra and Topaz from three different continents create an aroma of mango, pineapple and citrus.
