Tradition meets technology: Waldhaus makes record investment in modern bottling plant

The Waldhaus private brewery is investing around 4 million euros in the installation and conversion of its new bottling plant. The aim of this investment was to achieve maximum efficiency and quality as well as particularly economical use of resources.

Over the past weeks and months, the Waldhaus private brewery has made major upgrades to its production facilities. The companies GM Gera, KHS and BMS, all major brewery machine manufacturers from Germany, were awarded the contract. From the bottle washing machine to the bottle filler and crate palletizing, new, state-of-the-art machines were integrated into the bottling process. After a short familiarization and changeover phase, all processes now run smoothly for the most part. The line not only fills beers with and without alcohol in 0.33l and 0.5l bottles, but also the new Cola-Mix Waldi.

Technical Manager Steffen Müller draws a positive conclusion: “We are very satisfied with the new bottling line and the resulting increase in bottling capacity. Of course, there are still a few hiccups now and again, but any problems that arise can usually be rectified promptly.”

The benefits of the investment can already be clearly seen in the performance data. While the old system was only able to fill 12,000 bottles per hour, the new system can fill up to 24,000 bottles per hour, which is twice as much. To ensure that this works smoothly, the belt controls and conveyor belts between the individual machines also had to be renewed and adapted.

Brewery boss Dieter Schmid is satisfied: “While the industry is shrinking, Waldhaus is bucking the trend and continuing to grow. Thanks to the conversion, we will also be able to supply our customers with our beer in the usual top quality at all times in the future. What particularly excites me about this investment is that the new machines contribute to reducing our ecological footprint, as they use resources more efficiently and reduce energy consumption.”
